Since its founding in 2006, Clean Production Action’s BizNGO, a collaboration of forward-leading business people and the NGO community, has sought to inform and influence federal and state chemicals legislation and regulation. The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) since its founding in 2009 has made educating and engaging business leaders on state and federal chemical public policy a priority. Its “Companies for Safer Chemicals” initiatives have engaged some of the top business leaders to successfully support the passage of chemical policies across the country.
Change that is beneficial to human and environmental health, through legislation and market transformation, is at a critical point. Progress in the private sector is often offset by a lack of legislative and regulatory progress. Now with a massive assault on safeguards at federal level and attempts to preempt state legislation, we need a strong business voice and power to advocate for the right decisions to incentivize safer chemicals and regulate toxic chemicals.
After years of working together on tactical and like-minded policy issues, the American Sustainable Business Council and Clean Production Action are pleased to announce they are partnering in the formation of the ASBC-BizNGO Safer Chemicals Public Policy Work Group.
To initiate the effort, David Levine, Co-founder and President, American Sustainable Business Council, and Mark Rossi, Executive Director, Clean Production Action and Founder of BizNGO, will begin as co-chairs. Together we will be stronger and aim to advance an ambitious agenda for the benefit of people and the planet.
