BizNGO Webinar: Sustaining a Chemical Knowledge Commons

A presentation by and discussion with Dr. Akos Kokai on, "Sustaining a chemical knowledge commons."

June 30, 2020 BizNGO Events Webinars & Videos

Akos will present his research and findings from studying the safer chemical substitution knowledge landscape.

Thinking about chemical knowledge as a “commons” opens up a range of possibilities for better understanding the challenges we face and for imagining transformative new pathways. In this webinar, Akos will present research findings from his recent case studies of the GreenScreen hazard assessment ecosystem and the Chemical Hazard Data Commons project.

Akos will invite discussion of two interrelated questions:

  • How can we sustain and enrich shared knowledge resources for safer chemical substitution?
  • And how can we, as a professional community, build public trust in the science of chemical hazard assessment and alternatives assessment?

Learning objectives for the webinar include:

  • Deepen the dialogue about transparency, access, and openness in chemical hazard assessment and chemical alternatives assessment
  • Understand issues in knowledge governance relevant to green chemistry
  • Broaden thinking about science, policy, and action
